Reflecting on Blogging

  • Which language skills have you used when blogging? Well, I have used my Swedish and my English, which is a good thing since my English isn't that good anymore. I am too busy with German right now. For now reading and writing has been in focus and I have to think about how to integrate talking and listening into my blog as well!
  • Which skills would your learners need to be able to blog successfully? They would need some basic computer skills, like how to operate a text tool, load files and other web-skills. They also need basic language knowledge (at least if I ask them to set up a blog in Swedish).
  • Could you adapt blogging to allow your students to practice wider skill sets? Yes, absolutely. It takes some time for me as a teacher to figure out what is a good task to give to the students but it is really doable. What I would have to think about is the "talking" part of the course and how I would go about giving them feedback.
  • What subjects could you or your learners blog about in the future? My learners could (as they are beginners) do the basic bloging, about themselves to start with. I would love to blog for my students of course and also for other teachers who teach Swedish - both in Sweden and as a foreign language.
  • What did you have difficulty with and what do you think your learners might have difficulty with when blogging? Well, difficulties - I seem to have problems with the text tool right now ;) It doesn't exactly do what I would like it to do and I don't understand why. I think it could be troublesome to ask the students to build up a blog without any help at all. I think I would at least try to have a how-to-manual ready and also some kind of problemsolving-discussion-group. I didn't really have any huge problems myself, but I am sort of a trial-and-error-person when it comes to explore what you can and can't do on the web/with the computer.
I liked this week a lot! And I really hope that I will stick with it from now on and continuing building my blog!

  1. Hi Anna,

I'm so pleased that you are choosing to continue with your blog. I have no doubt at all that if you continue with the amount of energy and enthusiasm that you're blogging with at the moment you'll be a certian success in the Swedish language teaching circles.

As you are continuing to blog, be sure to check out the Additional Resources section of our Moodle course, as well as the optional tasks for some blogging ideas for the future!

Finally, I'm really pleased that you enjoyed this week. It's been a long job to get these modules ready for teaching and it's lovely to see that they are helping real teacher in the real world.

    Good luck and Bloggar bra!

  3. Thanks Seth,
I am definitly going to go on bloging. And I will take a look at and save the other things from the module. Right now I will have to take a break though, since I gave birth to my second son last Monday. Right now is all about feeding and diaperchanges.
    Love Anna
